The Grey

The Grey is a perfect example of false advertising. Much like last year’s Unknown, this film seeks to replicate the success of Taken by marketing itself as a nonstop action film. This is not the case, however. In truth, The Grey is something so much better. Directed by Joe Carnahan, it tells the story of a small group of men, the only survivors of a plane crash in the mountains of Alaska, that must try to survive and get to safety, all while avoiding a pack of wolves that are picking them off one by one. Haywire

Haywire, directed by Steven Soderbergh, is not for everyone. If you want to see a movie that has an engrossing story and fully realized characters with emotional weight, then this is not the film for you. If, however, you are only interested in seeing unique and realistic fight sequences that don’t feel like copies of every other action film, well then Haywire will not disappoint.

How To Become a Reel Reactions Movie Reviewer

Hey folks,

If your reading this odds are your interested in joining the Reel Reactions blog as a movie reviewer. Joining our team is a simple, just email us at reelreactions@emersonchannel.org with your name, class, a brief list of some of your favorite films (so we can see what genres you lean towards), your resume, and a brief movie review sample based on a recent film. If you want to get a feel for the basic structure of our reviews take a look at some of our past ones on here, but don’t feel restricted to write a certain way. We’re looking for individual and unique styles that stand out and appear well informed. Just make sure you score the film out of 10 at the end.
